Main Street

I worked at the Pizzeria here in Seagraves while I attended Seagraves High School.  It was named Mr. Pizza and owned by Bahram Slim.  He was a great boss and instructor.  He taught all of us who worked there how to make the items on the menu, lessons in business, and how we should conduct ourselves towards customers. 

After I had graduated in 1993, I joined the US Navy and was due to ship out to boot camp on November 22, 1993. Then, one day that fall while I was waiting for my ship date to come, a man named John Carmichael called me on the telephone.  He told me that he had purchased the pizza place in Seagraves and was planning to open it under a new name, Main Street Pizza.  However, he did not know how to make pizza.  He asked if I would come down and teach him anything I could about making pizza and running the store.  I was both honored and excited to be able to pass on everything I knew to him and work in the pizzeria once again.

After I had shipped out, John worked hard and made his business a success here in Seagraves for many years.  I am not at all saying that I am the reason for his success, but just being able to play a small part in getting him started in the right direction has always been something I was proud of.

The passing of John came as a surprise to all of us.  Many of us, even ones closest to him, did not even know he was sick.  He was a good man, and a friend to many in our community including me.  He provided a great service to us here in Seagraves for many years and will be greatly missed.  I only hope that I am able to live up to the level of service that he provided.

The Pizzeria and its history hold a special place in my heart.  Now, I am asking for your help to keep that history going with another chapter, providing great service and product here in Seagraves, passing on to others who will be employed there the knowledge that was given to me, and providing great memories for our customers.  My hope is that all of us here in Seagraves, for years to come, will have fond memories of Main Street Pizza.
